GLP-1s are all the rage, but they’re costly, come with side effects, and without meaningful behavior changes, the weight often returns.

Weight loss surgery, or bariatric surgery, has been widely studied and remains one of the most effective options for those struggling with severe obesity. Unfortunately, stigma still surrounds it, with misconceptions that it’s too risky or “cheating.”

My Commitment to Me follows three patients on their journeys to commit to themselves and pursue bariatric surgery with the da Vinci system. Bariatric surgery is a lifelong commitment, and their stories are both moving and inspiring.

For this project, I collaborated with the ECD to develop the concept, participated in the interview and candidate selection process, outlined a potential story arc, compiled production transcripts into a cohesive narrative, and worked closely with the editor to bring these powerful stories to life.
